Beachfront
One of our specialities – these tend to be larger properties, sometimes equipped with their own yachts , water toys and speedboats. Ask us about a boat to go with the villa if it doesn’t have its own, or what water toys we can provide for you. Some of these villas have direct access to sandy beaches, some have sea-bathing platforms built on a rocky shoreline or wooden jetties to dive from or moor a small boat. All beaches are public in the Mediterranean, but privacy is often achieved when a villa has the only land access!
Heritage
The Greek islands have traditionally been home to wealthy merchants, traders, ship-owners and sea captains, from medieval times onwards, and some of them have left splendid mansions or village houses which are protected architecturally and offer a unique way to experience the more historical islands. Wonderful cornices, decorative plaster-work, painted ceilings, thick window embrasures, platform beds, marble fan-lights, mosaic courtyards – just don’t expect en-suite bathrooms for every room and beige hotel décor!
For Events & Larger Groups
A 10 bedroom mega villa, or perhaps a cluster of smaller houses in a family compound that can be taken together, we have many ideas for clients wishing to celebrate a special occasion. A villa with flexible lay-out or two neighboring villas can be the perfect setting for multi- generational family vacations and get-togethers for blended families. With a great chef and help from us in planning activities, a large group can have their event beautifully catered for and organised.
Isolation
No-one around, no lights other than the stars, no sounds other than sea, wind, and nature – isolation is perhaps the truest luxury today. A terrace with views that extend to the horizon, hills behind, you may need a helicopter for easy access, otherwise an iconic Greek ferry leaving a seam of roiled water behind it as the sun sets – leave the world behind you and set out for a real escape.
For Active Families
Happy kids mean happy parents – a tennis court, gym and outdoor cinema help, as does a location where teenagers can roam freely but safely, don’t need chauffering every time they want to go to a beach or buy ice cream, can run up a tab in a friendly taverna, and enjoy convenient water sports and land-based activities – from sightseeing to wine tasting, to make sure everyone is exhausted at the end of the day – except for those who stay home and enjoy peace by the pool!
Design
White cubes, arches, reflecting pools of water, columns, the play of sun and shade, rock, stone, cane, blue and air – the fundamental simplicity and austerity of the Greek landscape and traditional way of building, even today inspire architects to reach new heights of innovation and sophistication in design. OK, we admit, the Parthenon may indeed have been painted rather gaudily at the time, but it was a passing phase…
