Carnival time!

February is here and with it the opening of the carnival season, which only ends on March 7th with “Clean Monday” and the beginning of the Lenten fast.

Patras, Greece’s western port is the best place to go to catch the parades. Rethymnion on Crete also has a lovely venetian-style carnival, but we like what is going on in Xanthi up north – one of the themes this year there is the IMF, so we look forward to seeing the true spirit of Greek satire in action, alive and kicking almost 3,000 years on, and expect photos of economists and polticians dressed as clowns…..any idea on how to dress the Euro?

Please write in with your ideas and the best one gets a bottle of champagne.
